That Skoda was an interesting take on the liftback thing, too, where it could open as a trunk lid or as a liftback. Not sure why you would do that, but it could do it.

In any case, I’m doing my part (Liftback is even in the model name, although Toyota only uses it in the product information sheet and when they need to distinguish it from the Prime and the other body styles (c and v)):

(Right color, wrong trim level, so the cargo area’s a bit different in mine (because mine has a spare tire), but hey.)

I think it’s more like BMW trying to fight the CLS “coupe” with the 6 Gran Coupe and the A5 Sportback with the 4 Gran Coupe. Just that they got the names really messed and confusing.

I wish I had a liftback. I haven’t really needed the space, but my CRX had an impressive amount of space. Also if the rear shelf was a separate piece it would be MUCH easier to clean the rear window...
